We are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to lead our structural team and manage the structural design of fisheries, water resources, and bridge projects. Typical projects include fish passage facilities, fish hatcheries, water diversions, in-stream structures, bridges, boardwalks, and recreation facilities. As our Structural Team Leader you’d be responsible for leading our growing group of 4 structural engineers with the opportunity to grow the team as the company grows. Our clients include utilities, city, state and federal agencies, and conservation groups, while regularly collaborating with other consulting firms.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have the Following Skills:

Strong Leadership Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with the passion and ability to lead a growing group of structural engineers. Experience with mentoring, technical design, project management, workload scheduling and forecasting, and client relations are a plus.

Structural Engineering: More than 10 years of experience in the design of hydraulic structures, fisheries facilities, and/or bridges with the ability to manage teams and multi-discipline projects throughout the full project cycle. A high level of technical structural design expertise is a must.

Industry Experience: Experience in the design of hydraulic structures, fisheries facilities, and/or bridges is preferred. Experience as a Consultant working with state and federal agencies, utilities, and private owners. Active involvement in professional organizations.

Field Experience: Periodic travel for pre-design scoping site visits, site visits during design, and inspection/observation during construction.

Responsibilities May Include Some or All of the Following: 

  • Leading and managing a small team of structural engineers (currently 4) to support arange of structural design projects. This includes scheduling, mentoring, training, andguiding engineers at all levels of experience.
  • Project Management, including the management of expectations, project schedules,and budgets for both structural and multi-discipline teams.
  • Lead structural design projects, including the production of construction drawings,specifications, and construction cost estimates.
  • Work with clients to identify project needs and incorporate those needs into construction documents.
  • Business development, including the development of professional relationships with owners, engineers, and contractors.
  • Checking and quality control (QC) reviews.
  • Production of alternatives analyses, construction drawings, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
  • Perform field inspections and facility surveys.
  • Provide Engineer of Record (EOR) support services during construction.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license, or ability to become licensed within 6 months, in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.
  • Master’s (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Experience leading structural teams of engineers.
  • More than 10 years of structural design experience. Experience in consulting is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication in the English language.
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of design codes.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
